Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager with a strong background in manufacturing and cost accounting. This role will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, including fixed assets, lease accounting, inventory, and cost analysis, while supporting accurate financial reporting and ERP system utilization. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, hands-on ERP experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and asset tracking
- Manage lease accounting (ASC 842) including recognition, amortization schedules, and compliance
- Maintain and analyze inventory accounting, including cycle counts, reserves, and valuation (standard cost, FIFO, etc.)
- Support and perform cost accounting functions, including product costing, variance analysis, and margin analysis
- Partner with Operations and Production teams to analyze manufacturing costs and drive efficiencies
- Ensure accuracy of ERP system data related to inventory, costing, and financial reporting
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and support internal and external audits
- Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing environments
- Strong experience with:
- Fixed assets
- Lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Inventory and cost accounting
- Hands-on experience with an ERP system (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA-track (preferred but not required)
- Experience with standard costing and variance analysis in manufacturing
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory capacity (for Accounting Manager level)
